Welcome to my home page - I have been married to John since 1984, and
we have two smashing children - Christopher and Rebecca. For more about
the family see The Alexander
Family Page
Originally from Nottingham in the East Midlands, I am now living in Essex
in the UK (having got here via York in the north of the country!). I trained,
and qualified, as a Chartered Accountant and worked for 7 years before
changing direction to become a Full Time Mother when Christopher was born.
I believe passionately that a mother's place is predominantly in the home,
especially while the children are small, but that older children - especially
temperamental teenagers - also benefit enormously from the constant presence
of a loving caring adult both before and after school.
I serve as a director (also web site & membership secretary) for What
About the Children? - an charity concerned with the emptional development
of very young children.
On a Wednesday evening I am known as "Yellow Beaver" at the 1st
Weald BrookBeaver Scout Colony.
(Beavers, for the uninitiated, are best described as "baby Cub Scouts!")
Family History is a fascination with me. I am working with my father-in-law
on his side of the family, and with the help of research done by earlier
generations, we can trace the family back to the early 1700's. I have also
started work on my side of the family which is proving a lot more troublesome!
I also enjoy general history - especially the 16th & 17th Centuries.
